A. Jennifer Shapiro, Owner, and Amy Ash, Site Manager, with Lifestyle Essentials
· Fourth quarter 2011 highlights included a free yoga class for National Yoga Month; Spin-Spooktakular in October; a Self-Defense class; a Parent/Teen fitness class; and Fishbowl Fitness (members could choose a “level appropriate” piece of paper from a fish bowl; each paper included a workout for members to add to their current workout, or an opportunity to try something new.) Free one-class passes were available to patrons to try a new class from within the FitFlex course grid.
· Upcoming in 2012 - A Gold FitFlex Pass (this pass is five classes for $35.00 and does not expire until Dec. 31st of this year); involvement with the other village departments in the form of “lunch-n-learn” programs and demonstrations.
· Suggestions were made for Lifestyles staff to be welcoming and “out and about” with patrons in offering assistance; creating workout programs for patrons; and help develop accountability (“keep that resolution going”) in members.
· The RFP modified the hours Lifestyle is staffing the fitness center. The hours are 8:30a-1:30p and 4:30p-8:30p Monday - Friday, 8:00a-1:30p Saturday, and 11:15a-4:45p on Sunday.
Old Business:
A. Lifestyle Essentials Report
· as noted in the packet
B. Evendale Bike Master Plan update
· Funds were approved in the 2012 budget to complete Phase 3. This phase includes the completion of the Bike Master Plan.
Director’s Report:
· The 2012 Recreation Commission schedule has been revised. There will be a meeting in July instead of August. Members were asked to email David their thoughts on department goals and objectives for 2012, and 2013 budget wish-list items (one or two more umbrellas for the pool were immediately suggested).
· The leak in the pool SCS suction water line has been repaired.
· New pool furniture has been ordered; and a pump will be replaced for the spa and wading pool.
· A proximity card reader has been installed at the south entrance.
· During a recent power failure, the generator failed; so a load test will be performed soon.
· Deborah (Debbie) Walker has been hired as our new head swim team coach.
· Wall graphics were added in the main hallway celebrating our national and state awards.
Phi Lambda Pi Report:
· Winter Trip 2012 will take the teens to Indiana for snow tubing at Paoli Peaks; light hiking at Patoka State Park; and a cave walking tour.
· Weekly attendance is 15-20 members; basketball programs are keeping many away on Wednesdays.
· The Holiday Party and Overnight held in December was fun. The event included dinner at Montgomery Inn, Lazer Kraze, and bowling; followed by the overnight portion at the Recreation Center.
· Upcoming volunteer events include the Snow Much Fest and the Daddy Daughter Dance.
· Alicia Hirnikel will receive the 2011 Ohio Outstanding Youth Award at the OPRA Conference next month.
Open Discussion:
· Basketball season is going well. Girls fourth and fifth grade levels were combined not only here but across most of the league.
· Gus will use our gym to host a mini-tournament during President’s Day weekend. Gus would also like the basketball league to review, at what level, the change in the basket hoop height . He will follow up with Kristen Maiden.
· Tennis - Indoor tennis lessons start today in the Multi-Purpose Room. This is new program for the department, and people seem excited to get an early start on the season. The outdoor courts will be re-surfaced this year. The USTA has awarded the village a grant to add lines for two smaller courts within the standard court dimensions.
· Pool - the bathhouse at the pool will be re-surfaced this spring.
Motion to adjourn made by Pamela Meyers; seconded by Gus Janszen . Motion approved at 8:27am.
